1. How long should the validity of my passport be in order to be able to apply?

For German Schengen visa applications, you should have a passport obtained within the last 10 years and valid for at least 3 months as of the end date of the anticipated trip.


2. What is a Schengen visa?

Schengen Visa (C type) is the type of visa which should be obtained when you want to travel anywhere in the Schengen Zone for up to 90 days within the validity period of the visa decided upon by the Consulates. C type visa does not bestow the holder residency rights.


3. What is a national visa?

National visas (Type D) are valid for residence periods exceeding 90 days in the Schengen area. E.g.; It is the visa type obtained for family reunification, working in Germany or getting college education.


4. When should I apply for a Schengen visa?

You may apply for a Schengen visa maximum 180 days before your trip begins. If there are more than 180 days before your trip begins, you may not apply for visa. We recommend that you follow our announcements and public holidays from our website and determine when to make your appointments accordingly.


5. Should I obtain a visa for a green passport?

Green passport holders who stay in the Schengen zone will not exceed 90 days do not have to obtain a Schengen Visa.


6. Can I send my application documents by courier?

No, application documents sent by courier are not accepted. After making your appointment through our website, you should bring your application documents to iDATA offices in person on the appointment date and time.


7. I am a Turkish citizen (I hold a Turkish passport) but I reside in a country outside the Schengen zone with a residence permit. Where should I apply for a German/Italian Schengen visa?

You should apply in the country of your residence.

9. In name/surname changes, can I apply using my passport with my previous name/surname?

Your passport submitted for application should be up-to-date. Your passport which is outdated because of name/surname changes due to marriage, divorce, etc. shall not be accepted during application.
